Restored 1979 NVT Rambler Motorcycle.
Mark LLewellyn contacted BikesRestored to share his beautifully restored NVT Motorcycle.
“These bikes were assembled in Birmingham from parts sourced from various suppliers.
The engine, electrics clocks and indicators are Yamaha, as fitted to the DT175mx, the forks are Italian (Marzocchi), the suspension and brakes are also Italian.
The frame was British made by NVT.
This one was number eleven off the production line.
The previous owner had bought new wheels and fork tubes so gave me a good start with the restoration.
I repainted the frame, tank, side panels and mudguards, stripped
and rebuilt the engine.
The seat was recovered and the clocks were refurbished.
The fork lowers were polished.
I sourced a bracket for the clocks from Minnesota and a rear light from Italy, but I could not find a rear light/number plate bracket so I made one.
New bronze swing arm bushes were also made especially for this
bike.
New headstock bearings were fitted.
These bikes are now very rare, and do have their place in British motorcycle history due to the fact that they were made in the dying days of the then British bike industry, even though they are an amalgamation of parts they were pretty good at the time.”
Thanks Mark for sharing this rare NVT with us and well done on a cracking restoration!
