A beautifully restored 1979 CR125 Elsinore, Red Rocket.
This motorcycle has had a complete nut and bolt restoration taking several years to complete. It was completely disassembled, inspected, painted/powder coated and assembled using original and NOS parts. Some of the original hardware was replated and the rest was replaced with the correct OEM Honda hardware.
A reproduction seat cover was installed. The original foam and pan were in very good condition.
The frame and swingarm were bead blasted and powder coated with RAL 3020 Red to match the VMXRacing plastic.
Tank was professionally painted with Matching PPG paint and clear coated. The original fuel cap was hand polished. The petcock was also restored.
Decals were purchased from Vintage factory and correctly placed.
The foot pegs and brake lever were powder coated black.
New aftermarket handlebars and levers installed. Handlebars are close to factory width. Lever boots are NOS. Factory Honda grips installed. New kill switch.
Bike has new DID gold chain and NOS Honda chain rollers. Brake pedal rod and spring are NOS. Bike also has an NOS front and rear sprocket.
NOS front brake cable. Clutch and throttle cable..
All engine parts were painted in matching red engine paint. All hardware was replaced with factory correct Honda parts.
The original cylinder was reused. The original chrome bore was still in good condition and within specs. Installed a STD NOS Honda piston and ring set. Upper rod bearing also replaced with OEM Honda
Bottom end has an NOS Honda crank, new Honda Bearings and seals.
All gaskets used were NOS Honda
It has a Mikuni VM34 34MM carb installed instead of the factory 32MM Keihin. New factory Honda Air Filter. Original air filter box is in great condition.
NOS shift lever and new clutch discs installed.
Original pipe and silencer were bead blasted and painted in high temp paint. NOS exhaust spring installed.
This motorcycle has NOS Honda fork tubes. NOS Honda fork boots and clamps. New fork seals. Lower legs were polished. Steering stem cap is also NOS.
Rear shocks were purchased, they are correct 79 CR125 shocks. They were restored, painted and springs powder coated.
The bike has the factory correct 23″ front wheel. Front wheel was not disassembled. Rim, Spokes and hub are in very good condition. A new rim band and tube were installed. Also installed a new Cheng Shin C183 tire. This is pretty much the only motocross tire available in the 23″. Wheel has new wheel bearings and seals. New brake shoes. New DID decal.
The rear wheel was disassembled. Hub was painted. New wheel bearings and seals. New brake shoes. Wheel was laced with Buchanan Stainless spokes. New rim band and tube. Installed a new Bridgestone M404 tire.
Nothing was spared in restoring this bike. The restorer spent years researching and collecting parts for the perfect restoration.
