Restored classic 1979 Moto Guzzi T3 California.
A pre 1979 model this bike has the original early type switchgear, spoked wheels and 2C twistgrip.
The first California was designed with the direct input of the Los Angeles Police Department Traffic Division to be the department’s new V7 of choice. Original features included a left-foot gearshift, a bulletproof Lexan windshield and a sprung sidestand, along with the requisite siren, radio, extra police lights, and ability to complete a standing quarter mile in 16 seconds or less. The success of the model led to other police departments ordering their own, including the California Highway Patrol.
At its introduction, the civilian production Moto Guzzi California was part of a trio of motorcycles that included the Special, California and Ambassador. The bike features a standard seating position, footboards, heel-and-toe gearshift, and linked Brembo brakes.
Recently restored the following work was completed.
Repainted tank and side panels.
New main wiring loom.
New screen.
New panniers and brightwork.
Recovered seat.
New Lafranconi silencers.
Rebuilt forks and brake system.
This is an appreciating and usable classic, another of my personal favourites as I once owned one!
